Today, Thursday, October 29, 2009, I bought SPY, first for client accounts, then for my personal accounts.

I'm moving 35% of our account values into the S&P 500 this morning. I'm still bearish, and the high level of cash we are holding reflects that. However, I am seeing at least one tentative sign of a bottom here, as the S&P is bouncing off of its rising 50-day moving average.

If the market falls from here, our accounts should still outperform on a relative basis. If the market rises from here, our accounts should rise, too, but will almost certainly underperform. So this is still a bearish-tilted portfolio. Just to a less extreme degree.
