Today, Monday, November 3, 2008, I bought SPY, first for client accounts, then for my personal accounts. This exchange-traded fund, which trades like a stock, captures the performance of the S&P 500.

Though my indicators remain overall bearish, I do think that there is a better than 50/50 chance that they will turn bullish this week. All eyes are on the U.S. election now, and, regardless of who wins, the resolution of a major uncertainty is usually a positive for stocks.

We're still 48% cash now, but that's way down from 83% cash on Friday. If the market continues acting well, I may turn bullish and put more of our money to work later today and/or tomorrow.
